Rotary crocus planting

"‹Members of Rotary Club of Penicuik planted crocus bulbs to mark World Polio Day as part of the End Polio Now campaign.

15 members of Rotary Club of Penicuik (supervised by Council staff), planted crocus bulbs in the green space at the bottom of Mauricewood Road, Penicuik to mark World Polio Day as part of the End Polio Now campaign. Almost 4,000 crocus bulbs were planted on the day and a further 1200 were distributed among local Primary Schools together with a covering letter, fact sheet and poster. All to raise awareness of the threat posed by Polio and the drive to eradicate the disease from the World.

It is intended to erect a sign at the site early in 2017, before the crocuses come into flower, to inform the public of the purpose of the planting.
