Rotarian David Fell & Brian Taffs

Well done David Fell

With the loss of two of our biggest fund raisers, Rtn. Peter Fulham and Paul Freedman, for our annual Sponsored Walk in aid of St. Frances Hospice, David was worried that we might fall well short of our normal impressive total.

Bearing in mind that David is still recovering from a heart attack he decided to do something about it in a positive way. He registered himself as a walker and set about/upon (choose your own word) all the Rotarians that walked through the door at our weekly lunch meetings. His powerful and charming approach worked wonders and in a short time he had almost all of the Rotarians in the room begging to have their name added to his list. Well it is better that a brick through the window ! Only joking.

In David’s own words the walk, of a mere seven miles around the wonderful RSPB site on the Rainham marshes, was a piece of cake. He did it in well under two hours and felt marvellous. His biggest challenge he said later would be getting the money off his fellow Rotarians. This too proved to be a piece of cake and on the 22nd. Sept he presented our Secretary PP Brian Taffs with a large envelope containing a large amount of cash and cheques (The full total will be revealed later).

A big thanks David for your effort (there is no truth in the story that he Fell during the walk !! Sorry about that, couldn’t resist that) and well done to those Rotarians who sponsored him. Truly Service above Self.

George Larkey

PS. If you were not one of David’s (victims) sorry contributors it is not too late to make a donation.
