Time for Largesse and a Time for Thanks (and Smiling)

Rotary Club President, Martin Broadfoot, has been out and about in the Town and beyond playing a version of Father Christmas or Robin Hood (whichever you prefer) as he helps to distribute donations made possible by peoples’ generosity during the great 20th Anniversary Wheels event of 2016.

The ‘people’ include over 1000 Exhibitors, loads of volunteers, including most of the Club membership and their friends and partners, not to mention a huge number of local and visiting members of the public.  How on earth can a Rotary Club possibly say an adequate ‘thank you’ to all of these wonderful groups of people?

Well, that’s what Martin and his team have been on the road trying their best to do.  How?  By getting on with the job of distributing the net proceeds of just over £20,200, which by a very small margin more than equalled the sum raised from Wheels 2015.  So in just 2 years Wheels will have created the opportunity for some £40,000 to have been spread around local charities, projects and organisations.  Wadebridge Rotary Club is very proud of its local community in so many ways – A message from President Martin: “THANK YOU Wadebridge & surrounding villages”.

President Martin has been smiling for some weeks now; after all who wouldn’t be smiling if ‘all you have to do’ is, on behalf of the Club, hand out cheques and smile for the camera?  Here is a small collection of photos where he’s doing just that and one more of him showing that he can listen and appear ‘thoughtful’ as well.  Enjoy.

Keep Smiling – Martin could be knocking on your door any day now!
