Stroke Awareness

The Rotary Club of the Isle of Sheppey organised its second Stroke Awareness Day last Saturday (8th April) in a caravan parked at Tesco car park. Over two hundred and fifty (250) blood pressure checks were carried out by Rotarian Dr Ahmed and his team: Dr Murthy and nurses Shaheen and Maureen.

The purpose of this exercise was to draw public attention to the danger of high blood pressure and to offer advice to those checked.

All those tested had their blood pressure recorded on a card for them to keep. A number of those checked did have an abnormal reading and were advised to see their GP for further monitoring, as one abnormal reading does not necessarily mean there is a problem. However, it can be an early indication of future health problems.
