Local member gives a talk.

There was a good turnout of members at last week's meeting of the Rotary Club to hear the speaker Past President Billy McWatters, MBE give an illustrated presentation, which turned out to be a kaleidoscope of places he had been privileged enough to visit, on vacations over the years.  It was a world-wide trip to places as diverse as the Terracotta Warriors, China to Mt Rushmore in South Dakota where the four US Presidents' busts are carved into the mountain.  The Thailand/Burma railway as well as Ghengis Khan's statue in Mongolia also featured along with Macchu Picchu in Peru, the Great Wall of China, Hitler's office in the Reichstag, Berlin and the Hollywood sign in the Santa Monica Hills, California, which was erected in 1923, along with several other well-known world sites.  He also gave a potted history of the film stars Doris Day and Charlie Chaplin.  After an intriguing talk Sandy Bannerman gave the vote of thanks and President Jim Walker closed the meeting with the final toast.
