2008 FTSE Week Three Results

In the three weeks since we started the FTSE 100 has shed 549 points or
8.5%. In the last week alone it shed over 298 points or 4.8% and now stands
at 5907.9. It did rally on Friday for a time and just after lunchtime was
over 6000 points but it fell back again.
Financials suffered on Friday. Standard Life fell 6.31 % and Prudential fell
5.84%. The mining industry has been the subject of takeover talk with
rumours that BHP Biliton was preparing to raise it's bid for Rio Tinto
helping this sector to show an improvement. Xstrata made good progress up 8%
on the day.
Will we see the benchmark figure of 6000 reached this week? Your guess is as
