Students, family and friends join Rotarians for a special festive lunch
The Rotary Club of St Andrews Christmas Lunch
Students from 20 different countries together with families and friends of Rotarians joined the members of the St Andrews Rotary Club for Christmas lunch. This was held in the Scores Hotel on Wednesday 14th December. Balloons, streamers, poppers and hats were the order of the day much to the amusement of the students who were not returning home for Christmas. Many of the students came from countries which do not celebrate Christmas in the same way. They enjoyed a traditional turkey lunch with all the trimmings and finished with Christmas pies. President John Ardley surprised the members and guests by assisting with the serving at tables which had been the custom in his previous occupation as a senior officer in the Royal Air Force. After lunch Rotarian Ian Hamilton together with Rotarian Ann Baird accompanied by her husband Bela provided musical entertainment with everyone joining in singing Christmas Carols. Barbro Scott from the Inner Wheel Club gave a vote of thanks on behalf of the guests.
