President Bill Jones welcomed 13 other members. Entertainments officer Alastair Wilson recommended that members take advantage of the Glasgow Doors Open Week from September 12-18 to visit interesting and historic properties — details on their website.

The meeting discussed a request from the Rotary Club of Campbeltown to second two resolutions they want to place on the agenda for the District Council meeting on August 17. These are:

(i) The annual District Lunch and Handover to the new District Governor be abolished.

(ii) One of the three District Council meetings be held in late June when the Handover to the incoming District   Governor can take place together with any other competent business.

Members expressed sympathy over the difficulties faced for geographical reasons by the Campbeltown members, but felt that it was a decision for the individual rotarian whether to attend a handover lunch, so if there was no interest, there would be no lunch. It was agreed that, if the resolutions were put to the District Council meeting and there was discussion, the club's representatives should vote as they thought fit.

The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by secretary Donald Fullarton.
