Rotary club of Stirling meeting of 23rd June 2017.
President Alan Rankin welcomed members to his last meeting as president. We had good weather last Sunday for our sponsored walk along the Fife Coastal path, making for a pleasant day, and raising funds which will be divided between the William Simpson home and Prostate Scotland. This week we refreshed the tubs at Stirling station with 400 new plants. Sandy Leven thanked all those who took part. The incoming president's at home will be on 16th July at Grendon Gardens. Before handing over to Stewart, Alan thanked his conveners, council members and the club for all their support during the past year. The chain of office was then passed to our new president Stewart Wilson. Born in New Zealand, Stewart is well known in the community having run a cycle business in the town for 32 years. On his retiral he was introduced to Rotary, which he found rewarding, making many new friends within the club, and he particularly enjoyed fund raising and connecting with a variety of groups in the town. He feels that membership should be enjoyable, and is looking forward to his Presidential year during which he hopes to keep us busy with activities, some old , some new. His new SVP will be Sandy Farquharson a Rotarian for many years and currently club secretary, a post which now passes to Crawford Gordon.
Next week's meeting on 30th June, Speaker's host Gordon Murphy, Visitor's host Derek Anderson. For further info www.stirling.rotary1010.org
