The programme for the events on the day


Newcastle Discovery Museum

Thursday, 7 July 2016: Schedule

9 – 9.30am Registration and set-up for entrants

Competition entries must be set up by 9:45am

Table allocations will be made on the day of the competition

10am – 1pm Students:

- attend their exhibits while judging teams circulate

- complete peer review on other students' exhibits

- take part in Discovery Trail

Lunch at Discovery Museum café, using voucher provided

1.15– 1.55pm Speeches and Awards in the Great Hall

Chair: Nick Rossiter, Hexham Rotary, Vocational Team

Welcome by Carolyn Ball, Manager, Discovery Museum

STEM Outreach: David Rogers, Newcastle College

Think Physics: Emma Garrick, Northumbria University

Keynote address: Ammar Mirza CBE, Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums Development Trust

Presentation of prizes by Stephen Middleton (President Hexham Rotary) and Ian Burdon (Friends Discovery Museum)

2pm Close

Photographs of the prize winners will take place from 2pm; therefore please allow for this when organising travel back to your school/college.

Please note: Competition entrants need to bring their project and a project summary, to be used as part of the judging process. The presentation of the project is important and is considered in the award of marks.
