An intrepid band of twenty people - Rotarians and wives - were treated to a tour of Bodelwyddan Castle. We were accompanied by one of the trustees of the castle and museum charitable trust, a gentleman by the name of Frank D Watson, who's in depth knowledge of the history of the hall was both informative, educational, but also most enjoyable. We were told about how the hall had been both a holiday home for the landed gentry, a permanent family home and latterly Lowther College, a girl's school. Now owned by Denbighshire County Council, the hall and adjacent hotel are leased to the charity and Warner Leisure respectively. The tour lasted about an hour and a half, taking in all the paintings and furniture and the magnificent decor of the rooms.
After the tour we repaired to Abergele Golf Club where we had a delicious freshly cooked meal in the upstairs restaurant overlooking the magnificent course. We were again very lucky with the weather, having another beautiful summer's day.
