The club members enjoyed two excellent speakers in Myrna Ventners and Jeff Raine. Their presentation gave a superb insight on Fostering in Fife, very professionally delivered. Both Myrna and Jeff are Foster Carers themselves for Fife Council and both presented in fine detail the vetting process etc. which has to take place to become a Foster Carer. Their enthusiasm was clear and demonstrated the joy that is experienced from helping to make a significant contribution to the lives of children and young adults in their care.
Fife Council have currently 288 children within Fife Foster care. With 175 foster carers, 5 short break carers and 31 support carers. There is a need for more carers, but to recruit new carers involves a lengthy assessment process and takes up to 12 months.
Foster carers are supported with their own supervising social worker and dedicated training team. The care is for everyone who requires it, and for many reasons.
Care can be temporary, permanent, or short term care.
Thanks to Ewen.
