David, who lives in Long Hanborough, receives his award for his work as a volunteer for ‘services to improving the lives of the community in the district of Vetka in Belarus following the Chernobyl disaster’.

As a Trustee of WOVA, (West Oxfordshire Vetka Association) David has made regular visits to Belarus, working on a variety of projects aiming to improve the lives of local villagers following serious radioactive contamination from Cherobyl.

“On behalf of all club members I would like to offer David our most sincere congratulations” said Witney Club President Ashley Farmer “and to let him know how proud we all are of his award. This is a reflection of the valuable and selfless work David has been doing for many years in Belarus”.

David joined Witney Rotary Club in 2006, offering regular updates on progress in Belarus especially those projects the club has supported. These include the refurbishment of the district's Children’s Correction Centre which was completed successfully in 2014.
