Following presentations by our members about Shelter Box to Wisbech Grammar School, the school has raised an amazing £12,000 over the last 5 years for the charity

The project partnership between Rotary and ShelterBox offers opportunities to collaborate in providing emergency shelter and vital supplies to stabilize, protect and support communities affected by disasters and humanitarian crises.

ShelterBox is an international relief charity that provides immediate assistance to people affected by disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic activity, flooding, hurricanes, cyclones, tsunamis or conflict. With 17 international affiliates, ShelterBox gives shelter, lifesaving equipment and educational materials to hard-hit communities worldwide.

Over the last five or six years, Wisbech Grammar School and the Friends of WGS have raised just over £12K by organising various charitable events. On the 27th May 2016, a Shelterbox/Rotary team accepted a cheque for £4200, another impressive fund-raising effort recently raised at The Michaelmas Ball.

Overall, 20 boxes have been funded and Peter Tasker, President of Priory RC King’s Lynn, commented that this was an amazing achievement and one of which all participants should be justly proud.  He hopes the collaboration between the Grammar School and Shelterbox will continue.
