Presidential Handover

Tue, Jun 28th 2016 at 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

President Alex will demit office and handover the reigns to Vice President Dave Riddell. In addition Rose Davis (Fife Carers) will talk to us about Casey's (Young Carer) caring role before Casey is presented with her certificate

The annual Presidential Handover took place at the meeting. Photo shows Alex handing over the reigns to Dave with each of them being pleased to be part of such a fun organisation.

John Mac Callum, our newest member was inducted into the Club and was introduced by Neil Spriddle. John, like Neil, is also an ex-rugby player and recently started his own Planning Consultancy which allows some flexibility of time for Rotary.

Various announcements were made:
     1)  Monthly draw: Stephanie reminded the new members that they can join the Club's monthly draw by arranging a bank standing order obtaining relevant information from Treasurer Alastair Durkie.  A monthly donation of £6 towards the Rotary Foundation helps to fund major world projects e.g Polio eradication. All donations from Rotary are matched from  the Bill Gates foundation. Charity donation helps members' personal tax position and Gift aid can be reclaimed by the Club.
 2)  Golf Clinics – in July/August the Professional at Pitfirrane, Chris Nugent' has offered to run golf clinic/ group lessons if there is enough interest. He is quite good at explaining concepts and has tutored Rotary members in the past. Ladies, gents, wives, partners and kids are all welcome. Suitable for beginners or experienced golfers. Probably weekday evenings (Mon, Wed or Thursday x 3 sessions short/long/putting - to be arranged. Aprox. 90 min sessions. The group would split the fee of aprox £50 per  session (current numbers on 01/07/16 is seven willing  pupils). To indicate your  interest contact AlexEW/Ed. Scott/Ken Mackay.
 3) Annual BBQ – Sun 7th August, early afternoon – – date for diary. (this year it will be held at 7 Saltpans in  Alex`s garden by the riverside)
4)Visit to BBC Studios at Pacific Quay in Glasgow on Saturday 17th September at 11:45am. Rotarians and  partners welcome (numbers restricted to 28 persons) contact Greig Hill soon.

President's pause for thought after the EU referendum and England Footbal defeat - 'If at first you don't succeed .......... then skydiving is definitely not for you'.

The President has 'left the building' but pledges full support to Dave, our next President and for the Club.

Finally, the proposed Young Citizen presentation requires to be rescheduled.

Ian Grieve - showed during the year that he "lives and breathes " Rotary by inspiring  three of his daily contacts ( golf friends, neighbours etc..) to join our club.  Ken Mackay  - rekindled a light in his heart for Rotary during 2015-16 and  excelled by arranging many great events including visits abroad, BBQ, wine tasting and bowling . They both deserve recognition from our Club and they were retrospectively presented jointly with the Club Service Shield by Past President Alex.
