Father's Day Bike Ride for Prostate Cymru

ROTARY’S BIG FATHER’S DAY EVENT Next month’s Father’s Day weekend in Rhyl looks set to be an occasion to remember when the Rotary Club of Rhyl will join thousands of charity supporters from across the UK to wheel out their bikes and take part in the biggest national fund-raising cycling event of its kind – The Rotary Ride. Rhyl’s President Mike Parry is urging members of the public, young and old alike, to get involved by joining them at the Marsh Road Tracks site in support of this unique ride to aid Prostate Cymru. “We are really fortunate in having a unique facility in the Marsh Tracks, boasting a national standard BMX track, a l.3km road track and a serious of purpose-built mountain bike trails to test the adventurous,” said the club President. “This provides an exciting venue where the experienced and the novice cyclist can improve their health and fitness without jousting with local traffic.” Entry is entirely free and entrants need only bring along their sponsor form on the day for entry to the event. They can choose for themselves which track they wish to ride on, or do all three in an open house fun day that opens from 10am until 5pm, he added. Sponsorship forms are available from Rhyl Rotay through local schools, youth clubs, cycling clubs and other Rotary club everywhere. “Of course, it’s not just fathers whom are affected by this deadly disease, its friends, brothers, sons or even your nextdoor neighbours,” he stressed. “This is why we are holding this ride in Rhyl to help support those affected by prostate cancer and felt that Father’s Day weekend was a great time for people to spend time together while raising money and awareness for the charity.” “We want to create an event and atmosphere that members of the public and Rotarians alike can all get involved, in what we feel is certain to be a completely enjoyable and worthwhile day.”
