Committee reports

The ever-popular Senior Citizens mystery coach trip and entertainment party that has become such a feature of the Rhyl club’s annual programme, will take place this year on Sunday June 12, members were told at a business and fellowship meeting at Faenol Fawr. Secretary Gordon Marshall said that arrangements for the free event as part of the club ‘s on-going commitment to promoting community activities, were being finalized and further details will be announced within the next few weeks. The event includes a seat on a coach to an undisclosed location of interest somewhere in the North Wales region, to be followed by a tea and entertainment provided by the club prior to returning the trippers safely home. Later in June the club will be providing hospitality for four elderly gentlemen who will be spending a holiday in Rhyl while the important Club Assembly at which the incoming President will be formally installed to office, will be held at Faenol Fawr on June 14 to which all members are expected to be in attendance. Meanwhile, members were informed that the recent annual Plant Fair held at Trefnant Village Hall had once again proved a resounding success. Senior Vice-President Rod Brocklehurst reported that the Fair had proved to be a total sell-out and produced a profit of close on £500 and both he and President Mike Parry expressed particular thanks to Junior Vice-President Keith Roberts and his wife Sue for their untiring efforts in staging this splendid event. In response Keith Roberts said he was delighted with the response and for all the ready help he had received to make it a thoroughly enjoyable social occasion as well as a financial success to boost the club’s charitable funds in its work of Service Above Self.
