Rotary Young Chef Competition 2016-2017

At Bury Abbey Rotary Club we organise the local heat of the Rotary Young Chef Competition, in which young people from 11-18 years of age compete to cook a healthy 3 course meal

The Rotary Young Chef competition is a great opportunity for young people who are interested in cooking, either for themselves and their families, or perhaps as a long term career aspiration.  The local heat of the Rotary Young Chef Competition took place on 12th November 2016 at Westley Middle School.

Four students took part in the competition which required each student to cook a healthy 3 course meal for 2 people in 2 hours, and costing no more that £15. The winner was Lois Thompson of Westley Middle School, and Ben Templeton also of Westley.

Local chefs Pascal Canevet of Maison Bleue, and Lyndon Shoefield-Harvey of Greene King Beer Cafe were our expert judges, and Mayor Julia Wakelam kindly attended to present the certificates alongside Rotary President Peter Summers.

Lois went on to compete in the 1080 district final at Suffolk One on 25th February, she produced a fabulous menu and was a great ambassador for the club and her school.
