First Rotary Dinner at the Refurbished Club

A celebration of the club's redevelopment attended by members of the Family of Rotary in Jersey

On Wednesday evening, 27th April, a great turnout of Rotarians together with their partners and a table of Inner Wheelers, some 72 in all, gathered at the newly refurbished Good Companions Club to enjoy an evening of good food and friendship.
Rotarian Bob Marshall was assisted by Emma Preisig and Megan McDonagh. Emma and Megan were winners of the 2015 & 2016 Rotary Young Chef Competition. Together they prepared a menu from the winning dishes in the competition. This was quite an undertaking for Emma and Megan as previously they had only prepared their food for two people!
The evening was a wonderful way to showcase the newly refurbished Good Companions Club and the talents of Emma and Megan who both did so well as our representatives at the Rotary Young Chef District finals in the UK. Entertainment was provided by Angela Luce and her terrific choir, which had received support from the Strasser Foundation.
The event was a great success, raising £1,100 towards the running costs of the Good Companions Club, and very effectively showed the range of Rotary involvement in the local community - from the young to the elderly, from simple fellowship to support of community groups.

Note from the Editor: particular congratulations to Bob Marshall who has, almost single handed, organised the Young Chef Competition in Jersey for the last 3 years . The opportunity to showcase the talents of the winners at an "opening" of our refurbished centre was a great success largely due to his efforts. Well done Bob.
