Today Roger Taylor, Director of Estate Strategy and Project Director, North West Cambridge will be telling us all about the project details and progress
Roger has responsibility for the strategic planning across the University estate, including key developments at Addenbrooke’s, the central sites and West Cambridge. He joined the University in 2008 as Project Director of the North West Cambridge Development, a role that he still holds. This project is a £1bn mixed-use scheme that will provide residential accommodation for University and colleges’ staff, post-graduate student accommodation, research/academic space and market housing, providing overall homes for over 8000 people and employment for around 3000. The project also includes new retail and community facilities including the first University run primary school in the UK.
With over 40 years’ experience, Roger has overseen a range of mixed-use schemes in places such as the Docklands, the City of London (Spitalfields), Glasgow and Oxfordshire and he was formerly the property investment director for a £1bn portfolio at Taylor Woodrow, that following amalgamation with Wimpey, became the UK’s largest house-builder, Taylor Wimpey.
