The Club were delighted to present our long-standing member Tim Law with a Long Service Award and a Paul Harris Fellowship to mark his contribution to the work of the club over the years.

CEO John Willis talked about the valuable work his new charity does to encourage all people to participate in sport. He gave a lively and entrertaining talk about how passionate he is about encouraging people not to be held back by a disability but to have ambition and confidence. He got his law degree from Trinity Hall, Cambridge and went on to travel the world before settling down with his wife. They now have 2 daughters.  He has been CEO of his own company consulting in mental health care then went on to be Chairman of Provide - a community health service provider.

Just over 2 years ago he set up Power2Inspire that concentrates on providing inclusive sports events - Powerhouse Games. These are proving very popular across Essex and are now spreading in to Cambridgeshire.  The experience is particularly effective in Primary Schools breaking down barriers at an early age and boosting confidence in everyone.

John believes in leading by example so he has set himself a personal challenge to promote his work and show how everything can be adapted if there is a will to do it.  He is aiming to participate in all the sports included in the Olympic and Paralympic events in the run up to the 2016 Games in Rio despite his own disabilities.  He has 27 (out of 34) to go  - fencing, shooting, diving, riding ..... !!
