Primary Schools Quiz 2016
Report on our annual quiz
Our Annual Primary Schools Quiz was held on Tuesday 9th February in the New Laigh Kirk, John Dickie Street, Kilmarnock and we would like to thank the Kirk for the use of their premises which were ideal for our event.
We had 15 out of a possible 18 teams taking part which must be our largest turnout ever - Annanhill, Bellfield, Crosshouse, Dunlop, Fenwick - last year's winners, Gargieston, Hillhead, Kilmaurs, Lainshaw, Loanhead, Mount Carmel, Nether Robertland, New Farm, Onthank and Silverwood.
Supporting them were over 120 parents, relatives and friends along with their teachers (without whom the event could not have taken place, so a very sincere thank you to all the teachers). For the first time we offered the audience an opportunity to record their own scores and see whether they are indeed brighter than a ten year old. Strangely few were prepared to own up to how well they had done!
Our eventual winners, after a very close contest, were Onthank with 92 out of a possible 120 points. In second place were Nether Robertland and third were last year's winners Fenwick. Congratulations to them and to all the teams which took part, you made it a very exciting contest and we hope you enjoyed yourselves.
The West of Scotland Final of Rotary's Primary Schools Quiz will take place at Pollokshaws Burgh Hall on Monday 6th June 2016 commencing at 1pm.
