Catherine Green Age Uk

Catherine gave a very interesting presentation on Age UK especially how it had evolved over the years from other organisations.

She went into detail of the many varied and interesting services it provides for the those aged 50 (yes 50) and over. These include home secretarial services to sort out junk mail from items that need attention, telephone befriending services as well as many varied social events, walking days as well as directing those in need of more speciallised services and much more.

It is entirely self funded so relies on a whole network of volunteers willing to give up a few hours per week or more.

A very interesting insight into the organisation and of the sterling work it does in helping so many in the local community.
