Christmas message from Fr. Luigi Moroni

RHYL ROTARY A call for people to forget about themselves and instead to think of the needs of others was the Christmas message delivered to members of Rhyl Rotary Club at their annual Yuletide dinner at Faenol Fawr. Introduced by President Mike Parry, guest speaker Father Luigi Moroni, of Holywell, at 27 the youngest Roman Catholic Parish Priest in North Wales, said that using this special time of year to turn away from one’s own wants and to focus on the opportunity to be of service and help to those around us, would better reflect what was the true challenge of Christmas. An Italian, who has lived in Wales for the past 8 years, Father Luigi said he was a member of a Vocational order of priests dedicated to this objective and ideal. For this reason he was much attracted to Rotary’s own international theme for the year, inviting members everywhere “to make yourselves a gift in the world.” The warm thanks of the club for such a timely and appropriate address were expressed by President Mike who also warmly welcomed the presence of numerous wives and friends who had come along for this special occasion. After presenting a cheque for £200 in support of the Young Musicians concert organized in the coming season by Rhyl Music Club, to member Rufus Adams, an official of the Music Club, the President announced that the next meeting would take place on January 5. Meanwhile, he wished all present and their families a most peaceful Christmas and a healthy and rewarding new year.
