Christmas Eve in The Market Place

Carols & the arrival of Father Christmas in the Market Place, Ringwood

thumbnail view

Christmas Eve in the Market Place in Ringwood is a very special time. The event has been going since the 1950's and the idea of chidren giving presents to Father Christmas began over 30 years ago.The Rotary Club of Ringwood took over the event in 1999.

We look forward to another successful year with our annual festivities which start at 6.00pm on Christmas Eve with a similar format to previous years. The Market Place will be festooned with lights as usual and we expect to have about 2000 people singing carols before the arrival of Father Christmas to the delight of the children. Both the Salvation Army and the Ringwood & Burley Bands will lead the singing.

This is a very distinct, and possibly unique, event in this country giving an opporunity for the children to give Father Christmas presents which will be passed on to children's homes and special schools in the area.
