Fantastic Fair

Rotary helps at the St Mary's Island Community Fair

A great time was had by all at the St Mary’s Island Christmas Fair on Saturday 28th November 2015.

Members of Medway Sunlight Rotary Club helped the Community Centre staff set up and take down the stalls & Santa’s Grotto and ran children’s games throughout the afternoon.Hundreds of residents and friends flocked to the Fair to sample many of the fabulous bargains on offer but also to see the wide range of organisations that use the Centre and their fascinating activities. We meet their every Thursday morning and we had our own stall promoting the Club and selling books in aid of out charity fund.

Father Christmas was also able to attend and those that visited his Grotto were able to leave their present list with him ready for Christmas Day.Hundreds of new toys and games were donated by visitors to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal. The event finished with the Salvation Army Band reminding us all what Christmas should be about and leading us all in carol singing around the tree outside. The Club took the opportunity to also present £265 raised from their recent Big Breakfast event to the Salvation Army for the many important activities that they are involved in the community. We look forward to working with the Salvation Army in the lead up to our Christmas Meal for the homeless and those alone on Christmas Day.
