At  a meeting of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry on Thursday 23rd June, President Kate Gibb welcomed visitors from Queensferry High School Interact Club. students Helen Kernehan, Kathryn Dalgleish and Ben Waller gave a thoroughly engaging presentation of the club's activities over the school year 2015 - 2016. Supported by Queensferry Rotary Club, Interact offers young people the opportunity  to learn about social issues and take part in projects designed to help others. Joint Secretary Kathryn Dalgleish described the ongoing appeal which annually sends shoe boxes filled with writing material, items of clothing, toys and other treats to deprived children in Romania. He colleague Helen Kernehan said that cake bakes at parents' evenings had raised £200 for Mary's Meals, to provide lunches for poor children in developing countries, thus encouraging them to attend school. Interact also took part in the Mary's Meals back pack project and donated £200 to carers' charities. In reply to one of many questions from the floor, Ben Waller said Interact had made him think about others and feel grateful for what he had. He had learned a lot about social issues and how they could be addressed.

The Interact visitors were accompanied by teachers Rachel Kerr, Gillian Ness and Emma Ronnie. President Kate thanked them for supporting the club and Rachel Kerr presented a small token of appreciation to Rotarian David Buchanan, who has guided the Interact club since its inception and is now standing down.

In other business, it was announced that the Rotary Club has contributed £500 towards redecorating the Rosebery Hall.
