Events and Funds

Each year the Rotary Club of Chislehurst raises funds through a variety of activities and events. These help us support local, national and international good causes.

our regular events:

Chislehurst fireworks.
This is a major activity run by the club every year in early November. Several thousand people come along to the spectacular show each year.
Fireworks photos.

Santa sleigh Christmas collections.
The children all turn out as we visit most streets in Chislehurst on weekday evenings in December. Every penny collected goes to a good cause

Chislehurst summer fair.
On the second Saturday in June the common comes alive with stalls, sideshows and entertainment. Click here for more details on this year's summer fair

We organise and run parties and outings for senior citizens including collecting them, transporting them to the party and taking them safely home afterwards

We support and organise outings for local children and we put together and donate dozens of Christmas parcels for needy local children.

our funds:

We try to give as much 'hands-on' help that we can locally. If we donate money abroad we always try to do so through a local Rotary club or through contacts made by individual Rotarians so that none of our money is 'siphoned off' inappropriately.

We use some funds to run local activities for certain sectors of the community. For example we run a New Year party and a summer outing for senior citizens from Chislehurst. We also support some local children's projects and organise presents at Christmas and an outing to the pantomime. The children and their teachers tell us that these treats are special and would not normally be within family budgets.

We also allocate funds to local good causes, some national charities and reserve about 20% of funds for things like international disasters. We scrutinise all applications carefully before allocating any funds.
