Electric Blanket Testing

Electric Blankets require regular safety checks as they age.

Safety Testing an Electric blanket

A total of 104 Electric Blankets were scrutinised at the 2017 Free Electric Blanket Test Clinic in Witney in early October
71 passed with flying colours, 33 failed to reach the required standard and were replaced.26 of the faulty Blankets were owned by Pensioners who received a brand new Blanket as a replacement, provided free of charge using money from the Thames Valley Police "‘**Proceeds of Crime Fund."
The Clinic was arranged through a partnership of Age UK, Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service and Oxfordshire Trading Standards Department supported by the Rotary Club of Witney.

Now all who attended can continue to enjoy a warm bed during the winter nights ahead, safe in the knowledge that their electric blanket has passed this stringent safety test and inspection.

Owning an Electric Blanket is one of life's pleasures! Nothing better than climbing into a warm cosy bed when the weather outside is cold and frosty and the Blanket has done it's job.

Remember: an older Electric Blanket can become dangerousas! Make sure you have yours checked out even if you missed the free Testing Clinic.

Witney Rotary Club is pleased to support the Annual Electric Blanket Testing Clinic, another example where local Rotarians working with their partner organisations provide a service to the local community”

**The Thames Valley Police ‘Proceeds of Crime’ Fund is created from money recovered by the Police and the proceeds from the sale of items that cannot be returned to identified owners, including seizures from criminals.
