Presentation & Luncheon.

ROTARY CLUB OF BEXHILL’S INTERACTION WITH CHESTNUT TREE HOUSE CHARITY FOR CHILDREN’S HOSPICE

On Monday 07/09/2015, Raouf Oderuth, President of Bexhill Rotary Club attended a presentation and luncheon party, organised by the Chestnut Tree House Charity. The Event was held at Jerwood Art Gallery in Historic Hastings Old Town.

Amongst the dignitaries present, there were the High Sheriff of East Sussex, Juliet Smith, Rother District Council Chairman James Carroll and Mayors Maurice Watson and Bruce Dowling of Bexhill and Hastings respectively

Raouf, from his own background and expertise was particularly enthusiastic about the Charity’s work for the whole family requiring psychological and bereavement support, end of life, sibling support and respite care.

Irrespect of however short each child’s life may be, families are offered a comprehensive package of practical, social and spiritual support throughout. This was very much endorsed by Linda Perry, Director of Children’s Services at Chestnut Tree House.

Chief executive, Hugh Lowson, confirmed that the Charity was ‘the only children’s hospice in Sussex which cares for around 300 children and young adults from 0 – 19 years of age, with progressive life-limiting conditions.’

As Chestnut Tree House relies heavily on the help, support and generosity of people from Sussex, Raouf intends to involve his Community Services Committee in raising public awareness. The Charity’s representatives will be invited to promote their activities in our Club’s Annual Health Awareness Day, planned for this Rotary year.

At the presentation, a mother of an afflicted child shared her moving experience and the many benefits she received from Chestnut Tree House. For further information on the Organisation and a range of services that the Charity offers, please visit its Website: www.chestnut-tree-house.org.uk
