'Clydesiders' remain full of energy and good humour six months after the Commonwealth Games.
Our Meeting featured sister volunteers Elaine and Christine Kerr describing their 'life changing' experience behind the scenes at the Games. There were 50,000 volunteers but only 15,000 passed the screening questionnaires and interviews for welcoming 'Clydesiders'! There was a practice session for the Opening ceremony which Elaine described as very 'Glasgow'. Christine acted as a driver for delegates, ambassadors and athletes. Elaine was involved in the results production and enjoyed the proximity of the parallel bars for men gymnasts! There were 18 international press desks. Furthermore, Christine acted as an accommodation host thereby gaining a new long term friend from Chorley. Both sisters are tempted to travel to Gold Coast, Australia to volunteer for the next games .
A most interesting talk full of so much enthusiasm!!
