The guest speakers will be:

  • Dr. Kacper Rekawek — an expert on international terrorism and terrorist groups.
  • Jo Berry – founder of Building Bridges for Peace who works to promote an understanding of the causes of war, terrorism and violence among divided communities.
  • Dr. Pat Magee – A former member of the IRA who was imprisoned for his part in the Brighton bombing, who now works with Building Bridges for Peace and seeks political solutions to conflict situations.
  • Dr. Albaqir A. Mukhtar – Director of al-Khatim Adlan Centre for Enlightenment and Human Development in Khartoum, Sudan.
  • Dr. Sadek Hamid – Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Liverpool Hope University who's work focuses upon British Muslims, young people, Islamic activism and religious radicalisation.
  • Dr. Philip Lewis – Lectures on Religions, Conflict and Peacemaking at the University of Bradford, and Interfaith Advisor and Consultant on Christian Muslim relations who will moderate the panel discussion.

The Class XIII Peace Fellows will give presentations based on their international experiences. You will also have the opportunity to meet the new Class XIV Fellows who will have recently arrived in Bradford

Schedule

Registration and coffee will be from 8.30 am, with the Programme beginning at 9.00 am. Lunch will be provided, and the Conference is due to close at 4.00 pm when tea will be available, with an opportunity to have individual discussions with the Fellows.

Location

The 2015 Seminar will again be held in the University of Bradford’s Great Hall. Registration and tea/coffee breaks will be in the Atrium, and a hot lunch will be served in the dining area on the mezzanine floor, close to the lecture theatre. Lunch will be in a single sitting and service will be divided between the refectory and the Small Hall, both of which are very close to the Great Hall.
