Fellowship Meeting

Tue, Jan 6th 2009 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Past President Donald Mackay updated the club on the local heat of the Rotary Young Chefs competition held at Carnegie College on Friday 12 December.  Three local High Schools took part in a ‘cook-off’ club competition and 3 winners now have the opportunity to progress to the District (East of Scotland) final and national final in London in April to find the Rotary Young Chef for Great Britain and Ireland. Ashley Parry from Dunfermline High went forward to the regional final to be held in Dundee on 1st March 2009.

Jack Pryde intimated that he had been forced to withdraw from the District visit to the Nyumbani vilage in Kenya on health grounds. He hoped that the club might support some extra fund raising for the project.

Jack also intimated that 140 of the 150 places available for the club's Burns Celebration Night had already been taken up.  Those wanting to attend should book quickly to avoid disappointment!

The Foundation draw was won by Alan Farquharson, second prize went to Ken Richards.  A sheet was circulated for names for the visit, organised by Ian Harper, to Longannet Power Station on Tuesday 24th February.  A maximum of 20 can attend but after the first circulation there are 22 names on the list.
