Rotary clubs in the Dundee area have rallied round to help relieve the humanitarian crisis in Nepal after the devastation caused by an earthquake.
An estimated 9000 people were killed, a further 20,000 injured and several hundred thousand made homeless in the disaster that struck the Kathmandu area in April.
People round the world have come together to send aid and the Rotary organisation has been heavily involved the relief effort.
Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland’s donation trust has raised nearly £100,000, and individual clubs have played their part to help the box charities send practical help.
The five clubs in the Dundee area - Dundee, Claverhouse, Abertay, Monifieth and Discovery - have sent vital shelterboxes, aquaboxes and water survival boxes as well as financial aid to be spent where the need is greatest.
Representatives of the clubs met at Broughty Castle on Saturday to finalise their commitment to the cause.
Dundee despatched three shelterboxes, £1,200 to aquabox and £250 to the Elgin Nepal Appeal.
Claverhouse’s contibution was £500 to World Water Works to fund the shipment of waterboxes to the various disaster areas.
Abertay sent seven shelterboxes with a further £1,100 to be allocated, and Monifieth and Discovery each sent two shelterboxes and two aquaboxes.
David Laing of the Rotary Club of Dundee, said: "We wanted to express our concern through shelterboxes to those who have faced such devastation."
Donald MacKerron of Monifieth Rotary said: "There is always an emergency somewhere in the world, and the Rotary clubs contribute to having shelterboxes on standby to send to where they are needed."
