Katie Kelly is the Strategic Manager – Vibrant Communities for East Ayrshire Council.
Katie Kelly will talk about the Kilmarnock Town Centre - Working Together Initiative which has brought together representatives from Kilmarnock’s rich tapestry of town centre shops and businesses, churches, voluntary and community groups, schools, youth groups, Police, East Ayrshire Council, Ayrshire College and others.
Vibrant Communities, in partnership with the New Laigh Kirk, has hosted four stakeholder events, providing an environment in which to foster further links between, and widen engagement of, stakeholders in a Town Centre Action Plan. Recognising and responding to change, the Working Together Initiative enabled stakeholders to come together to discuss the future of the town centre, consider its strengths and weaknesses, develop a collective vision for its improvement and jointly identify priorities for action which:
• led to the production of a Town Centre Action Plan 2015-2020;
• provided stakeholders with the opportunity to share information and network;
• will assist stakeholders to work in partnership to implement their plans and priorities.
The Action Plan will be launched on Saturday 8 August at the first Town Centre Festival - ‘Celebrate Kilmarnock’.
