Fellowship Meeting

Tue, Dec 2nd 2008 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Ian Borland gave a report on the Bob Mackintosh Trans-Atlantic Rotary Curling Quaich.  This was the trophy that was contested by the touring Scottish rotarians in Canada during November 2008.

The Scots won 547 shots to 420 and also won the Bonspiel for the Duddingston Trophy 43 v 38.  Ian described his experiences on the tour that he said was very well organised. As well as curling in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto, the tour took in the towns of Peterborough, Kingston, Stratford and Burlington. The tourists were also shown around the Toyota Lexus plant at Cambridge.

Ian visited 8 rotary clubs and was impressed with the Canadians generosity after being given badges, pins, prints and banners to bring home.

Jack Pryde reported that he had accepted an invitation from Alison Steadman on a working trip to Nyambani Village in Kenya.  This is where the club have sponsored a house and sponsorship will be required from the club to enable the visit.  Jack said that the Royal Bengal in Dunfermline have agreed to host a fund raising Curry Lunch.

Ian Borland intimated that Norma Graham, Chief Constable of Fife, would be coming to the club on 13th January.  A questions and answers session will be held and members are invited to submit questions through him.

Secretary Roger Templeton reminded members that nominations for office bearers were required ahead of next Tuesday's SGM.
