Attendance wasn't great - too many watching Man U v Celtic perhaps. They missed an informative talk and question and answer session from Alan Reid and Ryan Raeside of Albannach Financial Management.

Ryan compared the respective performances over the last five and last year of

FTSE - 2003 4335, 2007 6511 and today 4235
Nikei - 50% up on five years ago
Gold 1oz - 2003 $378, 2007 $763, 2008 $968
Oil barrel - 2003 $29, 2007 $85, 2008 $76
He stressed that here as with all investments timing was critical. Had we taken the price of oil a few months ago things would have looked different.

Alan said that those buying share now (bottom feeders) tended to be those currently sitting on cash having sold some time ago. He added that they were busier than ever - now more than ever before "People are crying out for face to face financial advice."
