Tue, Jun 23rd 2015 at 6:30 pm -

Our club meeting this week featured a talk by Jim Slater - Rotary Foundation - Vocational Training Teams.  Jim is the District (VTT) Officer.  Jim provided a very interesting talk on Foundation and an outline on Vocational Training Teams (VTT).

The teams comprise groups of professionals who travel abroad - either to teach local professionals about a particular field, or to learn more about their own.

A (VTT) can be funded in different ways, and can include : -
District Grants.
To qualify for a District Grant activities need to support the Rotary Foundations mission to promote goodwill and peace, improve health support education, and alleviate poverty.

One or more Rotary Clubs, with or without District Grants.

Global Grants.  To qualify for Global Grant it must align with one or more of the areas of focus.

Team Members can be Rotarians or Non Rotarians - with no restriction on length of a (VTT) visit.
A successful (VTT) increases the capacity of host community to solve problems and improve quality of life.

Jim made reference to VTT recruitment, and business mentors, and also where they spent 2 - 4 weeks in Ghana, with involvement in preparing and presenting seminars to a wider business audience.

Examples of businesses visited included Cooler Ice Drinking Water, Love Enterprises, and (Thrive Africa & Enliven Mama Africa - members may remember the talk by Maxwell Yaw Donker re this charity in Ghana) and where support and help is given.
