On April 28th, Senior Vice President John Kilgour welcomed 16 members of the club and two guests - Anne Buchan and Graham Fernie - to an evening meeting of the Rotary Club of Kirkcaldy at the Dean Park Hotel.
The meeting opened with thoughts going out to those who had lost their lives in Nepal, and closer to home, to those who have lost their jobs with the closure of Tullis Russell.
A letter of thanks had been received from the Grey Panther Club for our donation to them.
Tonight’s speaker was the Club’s own Les Soper who had generously stepped in at short notice. Les has given guided walks in West Wemyss for Open Doors Days on behalf of Kirkcaldy Civic Society several times. Having got fed up of delivering the tour in the rain, he has now turned it into a talk and that was what he gave members this evening. With historic and contemporary views, he gave a glimpse of many of the village’s fascinating buildings, mining history and links with the Wemyss family.
PP Tony Payne gave the vote of thanks. Next week’s speaker, from the Ecology Centre at Kinghorn, will be telling members will hear how to raise £1million...
