Ghosts and grisly events in Durham - David Butler

Thu, Jan 29th 2015 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Fifth Thursday in the month - so this was an evening meeting.

David entertained us - and frightened us! - with tales of ghostly apparitions in the Market Place and up Crossgate to Neville's Cross.  It would seem even the Wilknson store in the modern development at Milburngate is haunted (is that why Waitrose didn't stay very long?).  David was the County Archivist before retiring and has spent many years researching and collating stories of ghosts and hauntings around the city.

But before that we were surprised and delighted to witness the award of a further Paul Harris Fellowship to Alf Harold in recognition of his service to the Club, especially in relation to Saanta's Sleigh.  (Some people think he really is Santa Claus!)
