Our own Club Rotarian, Doug, started his presentation by showing an image of a bust of Rotary's Founder Paul Harris with a Rotary International wreath. No, not in the USA or Europe but in Chile.

Having travelled around many parts of the world, Doug and Elaine have accumulated 25,000 photos! However, not all were on show on the evening - rather a theme of 'War & Peace' using images covering beaches; scenery; cityscapes; ancient ruins; nature; nostalgia; food & drink - the overall experiences being of various cultures and people.

Doug maintains that the best and most cost effective way to visit so many locations is by cruising - few would argue with that - and he encouraged anyone who has not cruised simply to try it.

A couple of surprising points:

- Around the world, most Heath & Safety notices are in English

- Expectations and perceptions prior to a location visit are often over-ruled by what is actually experienced - some surprises good and some not so good.

Doug finishes his talk with a short quiz before the Club's vote of thanks was delivered by Ian Clarkson
