Weekly Meeting 06 October 2014

Twenty two members attended the weekly meeting plus Paul Blair, a guest of PP David Hannent.

PP Roger Evans recounted the eventful happenings when, with PP Chris Farrer, PP Peter Rothschild and the President (plus two wives), attended the annual Triangulaire, this year hosted by Ostend. Firstly they were subjected to a search when leaving the UK then when Roger and president Ian went to put additional parking to Ian's car, the coach departed without them leaving them chasing around Ostend trying to find it and to cap it all Ian got breathalysed which thankfully turned out to be a negative reading despite him suddenly remembering the two glasses of wine he had consumed earlier. Nevertheless a great time was had by all with Roger remarking that it was probably the best Triangulaire he had attended.

Being a fifth Monday, last week's meeting was 'An Evening With The Ladies' that took place in Dunkerley's Restaurant where he provided an excellent five course menu with a Spanish theme. The five fantastic wines were provided by his wine merchant Martin McCague whose previous career saw him playing cricket for England against Australia. The secretary made several announcements some of which have now been circulated by email.

He reminded the council members that there will be a meeting after lunch next week. Committee Chairmen are urged to submit reports during this week.
The meeting of the 20 October should be a Special General Meeting which may have to be delayed for one week. Club officials need to be elected and the accounts for last year have to be approved.
South Foreland club are holding a quiz night on Wednesday 8 October; several of our members are attending to condition themselves for the impending appearance on the Eggheads TV programme (perhaps).
There is a Public Relations Workshop taking place at Rochester on Saturday 11 October where the secretary and webmaster will be attending.
The RC of Dover has invited Deal to their evening meeting on 30 October for a two course meal with live entertainment.
There is still time to apply for the annual Churchill Dinner organised by the RC of Westerham. Transport is available with IPP John Utting.
We have to sign Rotary GB&I's compliance for Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety and Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

The birthday of Peter Kingston on 11 October was acknowledged.

Peter is hoping to return to meetings next week following his recent knee replacement operation.

Two 200 Club draws resulted in wins for IPP John Utting and PP Peter Rothschild. The 200 Club secretary is appealing for the whereabouts of the numbered counters that seem to have been mislaid.

The 200 Club annual draw takes place this Thursday, 9 October, when the evening will start at 7:30pm with six rounds of friendly bingo at the Barnes Close Cricket Ground in Court Road, Walmer. The Club Chairman, Pat Heath, stressed that the evening is open to all not just 200 Club members. Following the bingo the serious part of the evening takes place with the prize draw for 40 valuable prizes and one lucky winner walking away with the top prize of
