This committee, as the name implies, is concerned mainly with the local community, and its activities are concerned with raising funds for local (and sometimes, international or national) projects and charities.
Youth projects are of particular importance and the committee is heavily involved in an Annual Music Bursary, which offers young and aspiring local musicians, aged usually up to 18, the opportunity to take part in an annual competition. The competition awards four prizes,
