Over 1,060 people ran or walked in the 2016 Sawston Fun Run & Walk held on the 15th May 2016. The massive sum of £13,275 was donated to our major beneficiary Teenage Cancer Trust and other local charities and organisations. This takes the cumulative amount donated to local Cambridgeshire good causes, since the event was first held, to over £424,000.

Funding for the Teenage Cancer Trust will contribute to further developments at the charity’s unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, which was opened in 2012. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with cancer - seven every day. Please click here to view our page about Teenage Cancer Trust at Addenbrooke's Hospital.

Other beneficiaries receiving funds from the 2016 event are:

Cambridge Cancer Help Centre 1,000, Stapleford Primary School 1,000, Centre 33 700, Bellbird Primary School 650, Ladybird playgroup, Thriplow 650, Whittlesford Out-of-school club 500, Granta School 475, Sawston Village College 400, Local Primary Schools 350, Max's Mission 300, Sawston Air Training Corps 250, Sawston Boys & Girls Brigade 200.

The Sawston Fun Run has become the largest annual family event in the area, regularly attracting 1,000 entrants from a wide area; elite club runners, keep-fit joggers and those who do it for the fun. A revised short route for walkers has been devised to ensure that spectators have the opportunity to see as many entrants as possible.
