Helping the International Community

The role of the International Committee.

The International Committee, as the title indicates, is concerned with matters on a global scale by fostering relationships with communities, raising money for good causes and supporting contingency plans for disasters and unforeseen emergencies.

Over the years the committee has  supported a number of Rotary approved International charities including Mary's Meals and supplied many emergency boxes under the Shelterbox  and AquaBox schemes.  It continues to support Rotary Foundation and Rotary's Polio Eradication.

This year we plan to continue to support these charities and in addition support Trade Aid, which helps individuals, families and business to become self-sufficient with the aid of custom-made Trade Aid Boxes. Each box contains specially selected supplies needed to provide people with a head start in recovering from a disaster, or other adversity, or to start working for themselves for the first time.

To raise money several events have been organised and this Rotary Year we have held a WW1 Commemorative Concert entitled "Smile,Smile, Smile", a Christmas Concert with the Cantabile Youth Choir and we plan to hold a quiz in the spring.
