Club member, Ian Clarkson, gave an amusing and informative talk entitled 'A Motor Heads Journey into the Future'.

Ian has had an interest in cars all his life. Over the years he has owned a large variety of cars, many good, but some bad.

His first one was a 1936 Ford. From there he has gone on to own many others including Porsche, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, and Mercedes. Over the years he has also driven a considerable number of very run of the mill cars. A number of these had numerous faults. Perhaps the worst car he had was a Daf.

His current car, which he believes could be the future of motoring, is an electric Nissan Leaf. He is very pleased with this vehicle. There is no road tax to pay and it is very economic to run. It has many excellent features. The only drawback is, of course, the limited battery life. However, it performs extremely well travelling round Edinburgh where Ian does most of his motoring nowadays. He has a charging point outside his house which he only has to use once or twice a week. Should he and his wife, Nora, wish to go on a longer journey they also have a petrol driven car.

The Club's vote of thanks was given by David  Cormack.
