The 2014 Bramingham Learning Impaired Football Competition took place on Thursday 17th July at a new venue, the Beds FA Headquarters in Skimpot Road, which provided splendid facilities and an ideal playing surface for the teams.
Paul Hayton from Bramingham Centre organises the entry of teams and Luton North RC provide sponsorship covering the cost of facilities, medals and trophies.
On a bright sunny day the only downside was that 4 teams who were scheduled to play did not turn up. Added to another that had withdrawn earlier in the week meant we had the usual last minute reorganisation of  fixtures prior to the start of play. This task fell to Brian Green assisted by Tony Lenton of Luton Chiltern RC who kept the event ticking over, ensuring fixtures were played on time and keeping a track of the scores and league tables.
Thanks go to the referees David Hoskins, Horace Savage and Chris Fox who himself was playing in the tournament as recently as last year. Without them there would not be a competition.
Terry Harris Luton Town FC Assistant Manager took time out from his busy pre season schedule to spend an hour watching games and talking to the players.
The League 2 play off final was won by Hitchin 'B' who beat New Horizon 'B' 2-1 in a close fought game. The League 1 play off final was one of the competitions most exciting games ever with Hitchin Town 'A' finally beating Weatherfield on sudden death penalties. The score at full time was 1-1, after five penalties each they could not be separated with the score 3-3, so it went to sudden death with Hitchin 'A' finally breaking the deadlock to win 6-5. On the day 60 goals plus the 11 penalties were scored.
Luton North RC President Alistair Hay presented medals to all the players and trophies to the winning teams. A great event enjoyed as much by the Rotarians attending as by those playing.
