OLD FOLKS CHRISTMAS PARTY 2008

"They say its never over until the fat lady sings," but for the
Barnstaple Link Rotary Club Christmas doesn't start until Auntie
Minnie arrives!

Auntie Minnie, Mrs Minnie Brazier, has attended all the Rotary Club's
annual Christmas parties at the Barnstaple hotel and this year at the
age of 105 it was no exception.

Auntie Minnie, who celebrated her 105th birthday last week has
recently moved from her home where she has been looking after
herself, for some well deserved pampering at the Cheverills
residential home in Northam.

"She is such a joy. She loves the carol singing by the Barnstaple
ladies choir and the chance to make new friends", said the Link
President Lewis Baglow. "She is hoping to win the bingo next year",
he added.

It was a packed house in the ballroom of the Barnstaple Hotel with
the Rotary Club's guests enjoying the start of the festive season
with musical entertainment and an abundance of food served by the
Link members who gave up their day to become waiters. Members of the
club do a collection and delivery service for the elderly, having
raised the funds over the year to make it a day for the OAP's to enjoy.
