6.30 pm Dinner - Inauguration of President Ian D Broadbent

Thu, Jul 3rd 2014 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

President Ian was duly installed and set out some of his hopes for the coming year including Fun, Fellowship and Fund-raising. Ray Allan started with a joke and told members of their duty to be ready, if drawn, to likewise tell a joke in the weekly draw!

President Ian set a splendid tone in buying everyone a drink and then succinctly encapsulating RI President Gary Huang's message to Light up Rotary by finishing the eradication of Polio and maintaining our efforts on membership.  President Ian also spoke of his intentions to help in some of the difficult and underprivileged parts of our town.

PP Anthony Bakewell, in proposing a vote of thanks to our President also spoke of the family tradition where Ian was the third President to follow in his father's footsteps and how proud Tony would have been to see the installation.  Re-iterating what the President had said at the Club Assembly about Service Above Self, the Object of Rotary and The Four Way Test, Anthony knew we would be led well this coming year.
