Speaker - Hearing Dogs for Deaf People


With a little help from a canine friend

Two Rotarians from Cyprus were able to join members, partners and guests when we met for a delicious meal at the Cooden Beach Golf Club. This was followed by a talk by a volunteer, Sally Watson from the charity, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Sally explained that the charity breeds their own dogs, normally using cocker spaniels, poodles, labradors and golden retrievers. The dogs need to be intelligent, obedient and sociable. After the first year of training, only one in six are chosen for a further 3 years of training. The dogs that are not chosen are called
